CANADIAN AGRICULTURAL HUMAN RESOURCE COUNCIL (CAHRC-CCRHA)

https://cahrc-ccrha.ca

Funding was used to train 9 to 14 year old students how to build greenhouse boxes, which they then delivered, filled with soil and planted vegetable starts for 15 community members homes.

They were also given training on how to plant trees, maintenance for garden and trees on our society lands

Through this funding we are able to now move onto bigger projects and have members trained to do bigger projects if agricultural work, giving us the ability to grow our own food, in our own yards.

Toyota Seed Grant /Pollinator Partnership’s seed grant

https://pollinator.org

Provided us with a gift card for Satinflower Nurseries worth $1,350 CAD that will go toward the purchase of pollinator seeds that will cover at minimum 10 acres coverage by May 2025.

These seeds will be planted on the area of RR#2 that we previously cleared with funding through the “Red Cross Community Services Recovery Fund “

Red Cross Community Services Recovery Fund 2023/2024

https://communityservicesrecoveryfund.ca

Funding was used to leverage, strengthen our organizational capacity and develop new approaches to key elements of our operations.

  • We provided work for our Sc’ianew members while training how to remove invasive species on RR#2
  • We also taught employees [planting and growing of indigenous plants and trees.
  • Building of “Public space” open to all with vegetables to pick, grounds to garden in, gazebos to sit in and the chance to gather with family and friends.

This funding allowed us to provide a very substantial financial support for our member and allowed us to build a safe, functioning space to enjoy when needed for the public. We truly gained a lot of experience and continue to grow from what we learned during the process of implementation and reporting of this project and it gave us the jump start we needed to make a large impact within our sc’ianew community and outside.
